Blogologues: Task 5
Investigate at least THREE technological platforms
(Twitter, Craigslist, Tumblr, Facebook, Buzzfeed, Reddit
We have been assigned the theme "love and marriage" and I believe that the technological platforms below would be suitable as a transition (similar to a montage).
http://www.buzzfeed.com/ariannarebolini/the-10-worst-things-to-say-during-a-break-up
We would use these screenshots of memes, posts, and pictures as a montage (learn from the previous unit) and it would help the audience in understanding the play better and getting in the themes of the play. It would be good to use these screenshots as a montage as the audience would be able to relate to the item better, and it is more modern.

Blogologues: Task 4
Part 1: My group consists of Shubham, Ulughbek, and Armin, with Noshin as our leader. The topic that we have been given is "love and marriage." To myself, love and marriage is a topic that is very broad, with many types of it and many views about it. The perspective of love and marriage's impact on life, and life's impact on love and marriage really interest me. My friend Noshin and I have frequent conversations about love and marriage and often times we speak about the different affects of both. I believe that love without marriage would be completely catastrophic In my group, I would like to convey the message of love and marriage and how it comes together or it does not really work out.
Part 2:
Blog 1: http://momgrind.com/category/happiness-2/
This blog talks about a mother's happiness. It relates to the theme "love and marriage" as motherhood comes along a few years after marriage. It appeals to me because my mother speaks about her happiness, or expresses her sadness and relates it to her children (us), and tells us about how we impact it. I think it would adequately showcase my abilities because I would be good at helping in the staging. If I were to justify my reason to perform this blog, I would tell my group leader that I am placed in a similar situation at home most of the time, therefore I could stage it in a realistic manner. I would be able to perform this blog as it relates to me personality. My strengths as a performer is to be loud, energetic, and out spoken, therefore I would be able to perform this as the mother, or I would be good at staging as I can relate to it.
Staging: I would place the actor in the center, and have tableaus on the right and left of the center stage. When the actor would speak about her family members, they would perform their tableaus.
Lighting- The lighting would be on the actor in the middle, but when it is time for the tableus, there would be lights on them.
Sound- Sound wouldn't be necessary, but a calm music would do
Costume- The mother should wear motherly clothes, and the children should wear clothes like children.
Blog 2: http://www.projecthappilyeverafter.com/2009/09/i-love-you-but-i%E2%80%99m-not-in-love-with-you/
This blog gives the reader relationship advice and tells them about what to when they is a crisis between two married people. Even though I cannot relate to the situation, it still appeals to me as I always enjoy talking about relationships and I think it would be able to adequately showcase my abilities because I tend to give my friends a lot of relationship advice. If I were to justify my reason to perform this blog, I would be tell the group leader that it would be an interesting topic and it falls perfectly under "love and marriage". I would be able to perform this blog as it relates to me as I enjoy telling people about my perspective of relationships. My strengths as a performer is to be outspoken, and I believe that I have a soothing voice as well which could be used to convey the messages.
Staging: A person on stage with a whiteboard, table, and a marker in center with the both downstage and in the centre.
Lighting- The house lights would be turned off, and the light would be focused on the center and downstage- slightly dimmed on the right and left wings.
Sound- There could be a calm music in the background, although it is not necessary.
Costume- The actor could wear anything neutral.
Blog 3: http://lovetruthfully.com/
This is a beautiful blog about a couple's relationship. It speaks about how they met and their journey together. It really appeals to me because I absolutely love listening to love stories and about how lovers meet, and I think it would adequately showcase my abilities because I would love to act in it, direct it, and design costumes for it. If I were to justify my reason to perform this blog, I would tell the group leader about how I could contribute to the blogalogue and help others as well. I would be able to perform this blog as it relates to my interests. My strengths as a performer is to be energetic, and I think I can into the character of the people in the blogs as I love to speak about love stories.
Staging: If this were to be staged, I would have two actors that act what they are saying. This is an inspiration from the blogalogue live performance that I watched about the cockroaches. The lights turned on when she said "as I turn the lights on" and she picked up her shoe as they said "so I took my shoe".
Lighting- The lighting would be bright and focused mainly in the center of the stage but not too towards the sides.
Sound- There would be a happy, uplifting music sort of to get the audience to understand the sketch better.
Costume- The costume would definitely have to be cute, flirty, and girly for the girl and smart and handsome for the boy.

Blogologues: Reaserach Task 2
Review a sketch:
The live performance that I watched:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEshMMUR-Lw
Part 1: This comedy sketch is about a person living in an apartment in new york. Their house has many cockroaches and she explains her encounters with them. She mentions that as soon as she turns the lights on, they stop for a while and then run for lives while she takes out her shoes to kill them.
Part 2: There was only one character in this sketch. Her characteristics involved her to have a monotonous tone with a neutral facial expression. In the back, there was the montage that showed the title of the sketch, which started off with the lights off and it came on when she said "As I turn the lights on, they stop..." which I thought was quite interesting as it helped to emphasize on her words. Also, it was smart to start off with a blackout as the audience could focus on the title and also it gave them a chance to think about what the sketch would be about. Her position was mostly downstage, but their was a table in the center stage with a montage at the back which she incorporated with her performance at the end.
Part 3: I really liked how the sketch started off with the lights turned off. I found it interesting at is really made me think about what was going on, much like the alienation effect that we learnt in the previous unit, Epic Theatre. I also found it interesting to see how she was speaking for a few seconds telling the audience about the cockroaches without any gestures but it did not seem to bore me. I wasn't really sure about why she had a monotonous and an unusual voice though, but it could be the group's interpretation of the person that wrote the blogpost.
Part 4:
There hasn't been any reviews of the comedy sketch yet therefore I cannot determine if they were valid or not. Overall though, I liked this sketch quite a lot and I wouldn't change any bit of it.

Blogologues: Research Task 3
The three blogs that I looked at were:
I believe my strengths as an actor is projection and expression meaning I can project my voice and act in a way to express the feelings of a particular character. Therefore, I believe that it would be convenient for me to act out the blog post about "Body Language". (http://www.divinecaroline.com/love-sex/interested-or-not-how-read-body-language). I believe that staging this blog as a blogologue would be interesting because it would be interesting to act out the different body languages and show the audience the meanings of each. If this blog was to be staged, we would convey to the audience what each meaning of particular body languages mean.
If I were to stage it, the stage would look like:

Blogologues: Research Task 1
History:
Blogologues were found by two young ladies, Allison Goldberg and Jen Jamula in New York 3 years ago, in 2011's spring. They are a comedy sketch that are influenced by blog posts; basically a performance of a particular blog post of a blog. They are internet performed verbatim. Many people that were graduating out of universities with a theatre degree, all wanted to join in with broadway, however it isn't always possible for everyone to get in. Therefore, Alley and Jen decided to create their own form of theatre, which has taken it's journey to become what is now. A brief timeline show's it's history:
April 2011: The idea of "Blogologues" was thought of while working on "Why Are You On My Train" with the co-creators of it. Alli and Jen.
May 2011:The first ever blogalogue "Blogologues: Sex, Drugs, and Interwebs" went on live at East Village.
June 2011: The creators of Blogologues were invited to a developmental residency at USD to perform a new blogalogue every month.
August 2011: January 2012: They would present different blogologues (two performances in a night) at Under St. Marks.
March 2012: The co-creators of it Alli and Jen hosted a women in comedy event in Austin
April- May 2012: The first project went live at "The Player's Loft" in the west village.
July 2012: Alley/NYC begin the first official sponsor of blogologues.
August 2012: Second project on live
June 2013- July 2013: Their website livelyproduction.org shifts into their own site blogolouges.org
August 2013: Mashable and blogologues work cooperatively and it is classified as "one of the best things to go in NYC"
December 2013: Mashable and blogologues work cooperatively again, and Alley and Jen host a workshop on public speaking at General Assembly.
There are themes within the form of theatre; blogologues, which include:
Working with lively productions, has significantly increased the sales for tickets with time. It began off with 300 tickets sold, and now it has increased to 2, 000. Alongside, the "likes" on Twitter and Facebook has also increased.

Epic Theatre: Final Performance Evalution
Part 1: The challenges that we faced as a group was the lack of cooperation from all the members. IN the beginning, before our draft performance, many of the members were not focused on the task and they would be off of the topic. The fact that we would work efficiently as a team in the beginning that definitely reflected upon our draft performance, as we performed very badly. Later on however, we were able to talk about how we stage the scene as a group, and also we spoke our the acting and the gestures that would be done by certain characters to portray the themes that each of us had picked. Individually, the challenge that I faced was memorizing the script- which was mainly because we haven't practice it much therefore I could not say my lines enough to get it memorized. However before our final performance, I practiced the opening and my parts that I am in by myself a couple of times which got me the lines memorized.
Performing Brecht was quite different and unique to perform to the audience compared to Romeo and Juliet and the scenes that we wrote from books last year. It was rather different mainly because of the elements of Epic Theatre. While we were practicing the scene, we had to keep in mind about the gestus, the montage, how to embed the themes that each member thought of, how to alienate the audience, how to break the third wall and many more. As a group, we merged the elements and themes that people picked. We showcased the themes through the elements gestus and montage. For example, my theme which was to show how men is disrespectful to women was shown through the fat prince and Natella Abashvili. The fat prince did not (or was not supposed to) stand up and greet her with a lot of remark.
While the beggar was on the Fat Prince's legs, complaining about the taxes and war, there was a montage of a woman in a corner and a hand on the side facing towards the women. This was to show how the violence against women is still there. Also through the Fat Prince and the beggar's gesture was intended to show the different classes of people. This was also portrayed by a montage showing a farmer and a rich man.
We also had a narrator/singer who was breaking the fourth wall quite a lot through out the scene which would give off to the audience a brechtian vibe.
Part 2: In the beginning of this task, I will be honest I was quite fed up with the group due to the lack of commitment, and also with my myself because I was not present at school for two classes and I was unaware of the situation. However, as time went on and we got everything sorted out after our draft performance, I believe that our group was in a much better state and we engaged. Therefore, I would give myself a 7, as I contributed in most of the staging, gestures, gestus, montage, and I had the longest lines and had all memorized by the final performance.
Ayat: 8, as she clearly worked the hardest in getting all the group members to concentrate and she had great contribution on each aspect of the performance.
Hamza: 7, as he worked well with the staging, memorizing his lines, acting, and he remembered most of his cues. However he slightly off topic in the beginning of the task.
Ulughbek: 5, as he would be off topic quite a lot, however he has his lines memorized and his acting was well.
Armin: 5, as she would be off topic quite a lot too, but she had her lines memorized and she knew her cues.
Part 3: I believe my group's performance went pretty well. During our final performance, all the members of the group had their lines memorized, and they all knew their cues. This resulted in the final performance to be smooth, or to flow well and sequentially. Also, each member tried to get into their character. As a team, we could have improved in projected the themes that the members picked in a stronger way. However I do believe that our audience was able to understand the "big issue". My theme which was to show how men is disrespectful to women was shown through the fat prince and Natella Abashvili. Through the elements montage ans gestus, the audience should have been able to perceive the "big issue." Also, we had a narrator/singer who was breaking the fourth wall quite a lot throughout the scene which would give off to the audience a brechtian vibe. Therefore, I believe that we created a piece of Epic Theatre effectively.
Part 4:
Along with Vaneesa, Ulughbek, and Ryan's performance, we watch Noshin, Shubham, and Mifrah's performance. According to me, I thought their performance was the best reflection of a Brechtian play. This is because their scene was about a girl who gets raped but does not get any support from their parents and they claim to disown her as she is now impure. I thought their montage of sorrowful animals that have been abused complimented their scene about the girl. It really helped me get into the mood and understand the situation better. In the beginning of the play, they used a narrator that helped set the scene and for the audience to understand the play better. Also as the scene went on, they broke the fourth wall again and the narrator came on again to explain the scene. For application, I would give them an 8 out of 10. Along with the positive aspects and the proper brechtian elements, I also thought that the acting could have been a little more dramatic, for instance Noshin could have been more shocked and a bigger and bolder reaction from the parents (Mifrah and Shubham) would have been better. I feel like the theme of "rape" is a very serious one and it would involve major drama if it were to happen in reality. Although overall, I think their group did a good job!
